Submit to Portside Review

Portside Review publishes new and established writers from all walks of life and aesthetic schools, and from any country in which you live. Like ports themselves, our submission policy embraces mixing. Like dugongs, we are friendly, so why not take a risk and submit?

For every issue, some pieces will come from open call while others will be invited.

Submission Guidelines

Our upcoming issue is a collaboration with the Outlaw Ocean Project, a non-profit journalism organisation that produces investigative stories from our oceans about human rights, labour, and environmental concerns.

We are looking for submissions that can relate to the Outlaw Ocean’s work. This can be an interview with someone with lived experience on the ocean or a creative piece discussing the human rights abuses that occur through the seafood industry or something you come up with that responds to themes of justice and place.

Poetry – up to four pages.

Prose (essay, review, interview, short story) – up to 2500 words.

Rate of Pay - $300 for each published piece

Email your piece to hello@portsidereview.com

General submissions for 2025 are OPENED.
