here & now
here & now was a digital anthology project in partnership with Centre for Stories and Emerging Writers’ Festival produced for an event of the same title at the 2022 Emerging Writers’ Festival in Naarm/Melbourne, Australia.
The project was born out of a love for collaboration and a need for cross-country art production. From coast to coast, east to west, we paired three writers in Boorloo/Perth with three writers in Naarm.
Together, the writers shared conversations on Zoom, swapped notes and ideas, and produced individual stories inspired from the collaboration. The result: a series of six stories and three transcribed conversations free to read in an anthology available below.
This project was a digital experiment connected through screens but produced on the unceded lands of the Noongar Nation and the Kulin Nation. We acknowledge that this wonderful work would not have been possible without the resilience, love, labour and insight of the First Peoples.
To our writers, Beau Windon, Camila Egusquiza Santa Cruz, Dzenana Vucic, Jo Newman, Saanjana Kapoor, William Huang, thank you for sharing your story. Thank you to the team behind the screen: Production manager Logan Griffiths, editor Sachini Poogoda, proofreader Henrietta Farnan, designer Dalina Dominguez.
This collaborative project between Centre for Stories and Emerging Writer's’ Festival was possible with generous funding from The Ian Potter Foundation, Creative Australia, Centre for Stories Founders Circle, Creative Victoria and City of Melbourne.
here & now was written on the lands of the Kulin Nation and Noongar Nation. Always was, always will be, Aboriginal land.
