Fading Horizon

Jerome Masamaka

Receding sun set
behind those skylines
Here the ocean sleeps.
We see pelicans with dog faces
on canvas of gold across the Pole.
In the distance you see kangaroos with wings
flying over rakes of wilted twigs
in a hurry to beat the closing season.
Time flaps
to let loose tattered halos
shrouding the earth.
Aurora cannot be seen anymore
The counting has begun without Wind,
Sky and Stars
to ferry us home.
