Five Questions with Pranay Singh

Pranay recently moved to Perth from India to pursue a Master’s in Marketing from the University of Western Australia. Pranay is someone who is energetic and always ready for an adventure. His friends would describe him as a child trapped in an adult’s body as he is always up to mischief. Sports has always been something that Pranay has enjoyed playing, as well as watching, and it’s also where he picked up his interest in marketing.

Tell us about a typical day?

A typical day for me doesn’t start without fried eggs on toast and a cup of coffee. As a post graduate student I slot out a part of my day for assignments and study. Squeezing in a workout is a must since that’s my time to self-reflect and gather my thoughts, post which I enjoy the routine friendly banter with friends about sports, life, and a little bit of everything over a couple of beers. If I have some free time, I like taking long walks or sitting on a bench admiring the fluffy, white cotton balls in the sky and listening to music.

What is your future hope?

To be happy no matter what! I want to be able to put a smile on peoples face through the work I do and be surrounded with friends and family and create beautiful memories with them.

If you could invite one person to dinner, who would it be and where would you take them in your city?

I would take my caretaker, my second mother, Namita to Girgaon Chowpatty in Mumbai. Start by making her try all the different street food and then walk all the way till the end of Marin Drive and sit there watching the sunset behind the Mumbai skyline and the hearing the calming sound of waves clashing by the boulders.

What does a port culture look like to you?

Being born in Kolkata, one of the most famous port cities of India and going on to live in Mumbai the biggest port city in India, for me port culture signifies the hustle and bustle; where everyone is trying to make a name for themselves! A place where different cultures coexists (wouldn’t say in harmony, but they do) and the smells of the sea lingering in the air.

What’s your favourite sea creature?

Sharks would be my favourite sea creature. I am both scared and fascinated by them simultaneously. Since a young age I have been curious about these magnificent creatures and how their existence goes back to a million years.
