Five Questions with Logan Griffiths

Logan is Portside Review’s Production Manager and the Writing Program Coordinator at Centre for Stories in Northbridge/Boorloo Western Australia.

Tell us about a typical day?

A typical day involves waking up with the sun, no matter the time. Sharing ideas and laughter with my friends at the Centre for Stories. Listening to stories and collaborating with other fantastic creatives in Boorloo. I’ll typically end the day with a cup of tea, work on a crochet project, or take a sunset bike ride along the coast.

What is your future hope?

To listen more. To spend more time outside and with family. To contribute what I can to my community.

If you could invite one person to dinner, who would it be and where would you take them in your city?

I’d take my 98-year-old Nan to an early dinner at Old sisters' Eatery & Cafe (OEC) in my local city of Joondalup. We’d then take a stroll through to the wetlands at Yellagonga Park, watch mobs of kangaroos graze the sweetgrass, and spot sleepy hawks resting their wings atop old gum trees.

What is your favourite bookstore?

My favourites include Boffins, Crow Books, and Rabble Books & Games.

What does a port culture look like to you?

Salt spray and wind. It looks like sandals strumming on boardwalks and mum waving at me to slap on sunscreen and a legionnaires hat. It looks like fish and chips and pineapple fritters with mates on the jetty. It looks like a torn up ticket to Rotto in the palm of my hand as I step off the ferry onto Wadjemup and simultaneously Google facts about quokkas.

What is your favourite sea creature?

Crab. There is only one step, and it is crab. #IYKYK
